The Carter W-1 was Carter's first downdraft carburetor, used from 1932 until 1949. These had brass tags for identification. If the tag is missing, the carb can sometimes be identified from a flange number, but usually you will need to compare the design of the accelerator pump and float bowl gasket to the carb kit to find the right kit.
