Stromberg AA carburetor
Stromberg AAV-26 carburetor, number 6-97 for Studebaker

Stromberg AA series two barrel carburetors were used on a variety of applications starting from 1935 into the 1950s, including Buick, Cadillac, Chrysler, LaSalle, Packard and Studebaker. These carburetors are usually marked with the model name, 'Aerotype', cast on the float bowl, with the model designation, eg. 'AA-1' cast on the throttle body, and the carburetor number stamped on the top of the float bowl cover (airhorn).

Aerotype carburetor models are designated this way:

AA(features) - (size)(auto choke type)(starter switch)

Features

  • O: 1/8" oversize throttle
  • U: 1/8" undersize throttle
  • V: vacuum controlled power system
  • P: vacuum actuated accelerator pump
  • S: kickdown wsitch
  • B: design revision

Size

  • 1: SAE size 1, 1-3/16" throttle bore
  • 2: SAE size 2, 1-7/16" throttle bore

Auto Choke Type

  • 5: electric
  • 6: hot air

Starter Switch

  • 7: Stromberg starter switch used
