Carter YF carburetors were manufactured starting in 1953 and were used on many makes as original equipment, and sold as service replacements for Ford, Chevrolet and others. Starting in about 1975, a revised version for emission control, the YFA, started production.
The carburetor number was originally on a tag on most YF carbs, and is usually also stamped on the edge of the float bowl where it meets the throttle body. Information on finding the carb numbers is here.
