Ford 6 cylinder engines used a variety of single throat (1-barrel) carburetors, including Holley 1904 and 1920, Carter YF and RBS models as well as the Ford 1100. Please consult the relevant sections for a visual comparison.
The Autolite Model 1100 and 1101 was a small carburetor used on Ford products from 1963 to 1969. They can be identified by the low profile, 2 piece construction and a side-mounted diaphragm type accelerator pump. Automatic transmission equipped carbs used an anti-stall dashpot on the opposite side of the of the accelerator pump. Carbs for vehicles with a Load-O-Matic distributor had a spark control valve, which looks like a power valve, but is mounted on the outside of the carb. There were manual and hot air automatic choke versions.
After the production run, Ford sold a Holley Model 1940 carb as a replacement for the original Autolite 1 barrels. These are no longer available, but we have a Holley 1904 type carburetor that can be used as a replacement for either original manual choke Autolite 1100s or the Holley 1940 replacements.
Ford carburetors are identified by the number on a small metal tag. The carbs are variously marked as Ford, Autolite or Motorcraft depending on the year of manufacture. Information on Ford tag numbers is here.
