This is a replacement choke coil for most older Carter and Rochester choke thermostat, as well as some Strombergs and other makes. It's a standard coil that can be installed to open in either clockwise or counterclockwise directions. Fits in 2" or larger caps. Made in USA of precision bi-metal material as original.
Choke coils fatigue over time, so they don't open and close fully. You can check your old coil by heating it with a hot air gun. It should fully close the choke flap when cold and peg the choke open when hot. If it doesn't have the full range of motion, it's worn out and needs to be replaced to restore original engine warm-up characteristics.
